Every year, the Washington DC area NACE chapter hosts a gala fundraiser in support of a local charity and this year they’ve chosen Operation USO Care Package.  OUCP, locally based in the DC area since 2003, has produced almost 2 million care packages for our troops.  While these packages contain small comfort items such as toiletries, calling cards and snacks, it is often the hand-written note inside each one which makes the package priceless to the service member who receives it.

The annual Capital Style Gala, “NACE Salutes the 1940s: Heroes to Hollywood” isn’t until November 6, 2011 but they are already hard at work raising money in support of OUCP.  On September 14, I joined members of the DC NACE chapter and many local volunteers to contribute to their Operation USO Care Package “Stuffing Party”.  It was a busy but fun filled morning stuffing care packages, learning more about this charity and meeting new friends.  I’m so happy to have been included in such a great volunteer opportunity supporting this worthy cause.
